Want to Volunteer? Tentracks & Festivals
We had another cracking fundraising get-together yesterday, with a bunch of enthusiastic new people lending their energy and ideas to the campaign. It’s always exciting to meet new folk: there are dozens of people working on this campaign on all sorts of different levels. Minutes of that meeting are available on request, with important messages below: an opportunity to help out with our amazing Tentracks month of music fundraisers, a callout for people eager to volunteer at community events, and notices of coming meetings.
1. TENTRACKS
Roofraiser is a huge month of live music events organised by Tentracks (http://www.tentracks.co.uk/), an innovative music portal and promoter, helping to raise funds for the Save the Forest campaign. There are events every weekend at Forest, as well as special gigs in other venues around town. More details of everything that’s happening are available at http://blog.theforest.org.uk/post/4023544472/ten-tracks-and-the-forest-cafe-present-r-o-o-f-r-a
We’re looking for more people to help volunteer at these events: we need a hand in preparing the venues, running the door, and promoting the events (both electronically and with paper distribution). Whether you’ve got a spare hour to help promote them, a spare evening to help run one, or a spare month to be dedicated to the whole thing, we’d like to hear from you. This is Forest’s major fundraising drive this month, so it’s the thing to rally round if you want to help out! E-mail fundraising@theforest.org.uk for more.
2. COMMUNITY EVENTS
We’re beginning at Outreach project of reaching out to community events around Edinburgh, helping to increase the profile of Forest and its campaign, and to have fun collaborating with everything that happens in this town. We’re looking for two things: people to help run stalls and hand out flyers at events, and people who’re involved in community organisations and festivals who are interested in collaborating with Forest and the campaign. If either of these sound like you, then get in touch by email! fundraising@theforest.org.uk
3. NEXT MEETINGS
Media Team Meeting
Thu 31st March, 5 - 6pm
In the café (downstairs at Forest)
We’ve formed a small, dedicated team to help manage our media and communications: everything from running our website and social media to sending out press releases. It’s open to anyone to come along, especially if you have some experience with media. If you’re interested in being part of the team but can’t make the meeting, send an e-mail and we’ll keep you in the loop.
Fundraising Team Meeting
Wed 13th April, 5 - 6.30pm
Forest Action Room (upstairs at Forest)
This is a get together for everyone who’s involved in running fundraising events or elements of the campaign, or who wants to find out more about how to get involved. It’s a way to check in together about how things are going, and what areas we need to work on. The more the merrier! — and the more effective. (NB: this was previously advertised as starting at 5.30pm, but we decided to add half an hour at the beginnig after all due to people’s availability. If you can’t make it ‘til 5.30, don’t worry: we’ll see you then.)
